The Role

 

Based on the Sunny Central Coast and reporting into the Commercial Director, we are on the lookout for an ambitious and strategic buyer to join our fast paced team.  The role itself is responsible for executing local buying strategies for a specific group of Raw Materials and Co manufacturing/co packing services in the direct buying area. . The right candidate will be a key contact for local supplier relationships and a strong ambassador for their team and the Mars business.

 

The role also ensures continuous and cost-effective supply in line with business specifications. He/she will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with a number of cross functional partners to develop and implement sourcing strategies and standards. Key Responsibilities

 

  • Secures price, capacity & service levels in line with commitments to the business
  • Recommends and implements supply base strategy, assesses and develops suppliers in order to meet business needs and opportunities
  • Ensures effective risk management of the supply base, through robust contracts and monitoring of financial and other KPIs.
  • Establishes & maintains relationships with key stakeholders and their teams to ensure understanding of their needs and to facilitate the appropriate level of challenge.
  • Complies with policies, systems & controls. Communicates business risk & opportunity.
  • Provides market and financial insights and inputs to the internal financial planning and review processes
  • Implements best practice for areas of responsibility. Participates in team knowledge transfer
  • Provides input to and executes Regional & Global Category Sourcing strategies, where required.
  • Participates in external forums and associations
  • Develops and executes sourcing strategies using the Mars Strategic Sourcing Management framework and the appropriate tools for the market category (routine, leverage, bottleneck, critical) in less complex categories or markets, with the support of the LM or a more senior colleague
  • Applies a wide range of sourcing tools (e.g. negotiation, e-procurement, strategic collaboration, etc.) to select and allocate business to suppliers
  • Implements and complies with standard processes and tools to ensure responsible, continuous and sustainable sourcing
  • Works collaboratively with Local/Regional/Global stakeholders for this category and other cross functional partners to develop and implement global standards

 

The ideal candidate

 

  • University Degree qualifications in Business, Supply, Procurement or similar
  • 2+ years of category experience, ideally with supplier/customer management experience & financial acumen
  • Direct buying experience preferred with FMCG
  • Proven results in strategic sourcing and value delivery to the business
  • Experience with supplier relationship management
  • Dedicated customer focus
  • Good problem solving, conflict management and negotiation skills
  • High level of perseverance.
