The role of Global Care & Treats Senior Scientist, reporting to the Global C&T Dog Portfolio Leader, is a critical role within the C&T GIC.  The role is responsible for technical development and deployment of global projects that enable us to achieve our ambitious growth targets.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for developing product and process solutions from initial concepts which deliver to defined consumer & customer benefits.  Responsible for ensuring these solutions deliver to business model as part of segment strategy.
  • Responsible for working seamlessly with Global Marketing, Packaging Innovation, Deployment, Future Technologies, Commercial, CMI, and Supply to establish product and process targets and key routes to implementation.
  • Responsible for work stream leadership and/or Technical Project Leadership on highly complexity projects, effectively managing delivery to time, cost and quality whilst working with and influencing key stakeholders.  Responsible for effective project and risk management.
  • Responsible for leading the technical mix design in the C&T GIC and handing over technical transfer packs to regional R&D team for implementation.
  • Responsible for up-to-date raw material, recipe, product and process engineering expertise where relevant.
  • In some instances responsible for leading a medium complexity Programme within the relevant business programme.
  • Responsible for generating and being the custodian of relevant product and process key business data (e.g. Product KQA, Product specifications, Process Specifications, Project plans, IB-DB-AB inputs)
  • Responsible for understanding and applying pet nutritional needs / WCPN guidelines, legal legislation and food & people safety considerations to developments
  • Responsible for providing high quality formal and informal communication on progress of projects.
  • Responsible for being informed of technological, innovation and business trends, competitive set, trade customers, equipment suppliers and be able to match & apply to development projects.
  • Responsible for proactively managing Intellectual Property risks and opportunities.
  • Responsible for building functional excellence in Product and Process Development as well as implementing Technical Project Leadership best practices
  • Responsible for providing training and support to other associates, within the Product development fields in which the job holder has expertise.
  • Responsible for communication (both written and verbal) of key project breakthroughs and finding


What we want from you:


  • University degree in science or engineering or similar technical field.
  • Experience in the areas of product development, engineering or a technically related discipline
  • Ideally experience of leading technical project teams
  • Experience within an FMCG environment or similar business (e.g. pharma, chemical, engineering etc)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, e.g. communication, relations building, networking, team spirit.
