German Customs Manager (m/f/d)


Germany as one of the key European markets and with its various supply sites is playing an important role in our European Network. This is driving an increasing need for inhouse customs capability to be established to ensure legal compliance with the customs regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent Mars GmbH and Mars Confectionary Supply GmbH towards the German Customs Authority and in case of Non-German cross border import or export to the respective European Customs Authorities
  • Define and implement cross segment/cross entity and cross department processes to ensure compliance to legal customs requirements and maintain current, or apply for new customs allowances
  • Lead x-functional German teams to implement new processes and continuously improve existing ones
  • Ensure new requirements and changes are reflected correctly within the legal entities
  • Control of external parties running customs activities on Mars behalf
  • First point of contact for any customs related communication and questions in the Mars GmbH and in Mars Confectionery Supply GmbH
  • Represent both legal entities in European Customs Community of Practice
  • Ensure all relevant stakeholders (e.g. GMs, Plant Manager, Functional Heads) are aware of critical customs process changes, customs responsibilities in their function and monitor compliance
  • Prepare & lead the German internal and external customs meetings/audits and lead the implementation of gap closing action plans
  • Leadership of German x-functional customs community



  • Bachelor or Master degree, ideally with focus on customs
  • Relevant experience in Supply Chain and customs
  • Strong project management skills
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to navigate through complexity & ambiguity
  • Track record in building collaborative relationships
  • Experience of working on cross border topics and with German Authorities
  • Absolutely fluent in German and English
