Role Highlights & Background 


Two new roles have been added to the regional Factory Innovation DS1 team, based in SLO and reporting to the Senior Manager Factory Innovation DS1, the roles will become part of the DS1 Factory Innovation team already based in VEG.

The Engineer Factory Innovation DS1 is a key role within the Delivery System 1 organization, with the remit to deliver the technical implementation of regional innovation, value leadership and supply security projects in factories, internally and externally, using their leadership competences and functional expertise in process control statistics and six sigma tools and methodologies.  The Engineer Factory Innovation is the interface between the factory and the regional R&D teams. 

It is the responsibility of the jobholder, working with the global R&D teams, Engineering, Operations, and Commercial to implement finished innovation specifications in the factories, which may at times included external manufacturers.

The job holder will be capable of, and expected to, deliver against a number of projects in parallel which they will either lead, or be part of the project team.  They will also have responsibility for leading the development of the detailed running conditions for the change projects they implement.  They have excellent knowledge of implementing change projects on existing assets, including trial work, commissioning of new products and capacity extension projects regionally and will have good experience of being the R&D technical lead for the implementation of such projects.   
This position requires deep technical knowledge and experience in executing against a program of projects, and new factory process / packaging solutions within the specified remit of DS1 innovation, Value Leadership and Supply Security. The job holder will provide deep technical understanding of the relevant factory processes and will work with the factory to develop process insights to drive innovation. 

This role is also responsible for working with the other R&D teams and DS1 functions to drive continuous improvement and for facilitating key learnings from previous implementations regionally. They possess a very high drive for results, excellent project management skills matched to an inquisitive and challenging mindset and the ability to create good networks and relationships to drive the DS1 agenda and support the continuous improvement of DS1 ways of working.  They work independently and with little guidance to deliver the allocated programs.  
As a regional Engineer Factory Innovation, this role may work in any factory, and on all categories and brands, based on the needs of the business.  

Key Outputs 

•    Accountable for implementation of product and packaging projects on site, through the application of PLM (Design for Vertical Start-up) and is responsible for Factory 

     Innovation deliverables of PLM.
•    Application of Six Sigma tools and methodologies to support the implementation of the projects assigned.
•    R&D Technical Project Lead for those DS1 change projects that this role is assigned to the job holder..
•    In partnership with Regional and Global R&D teams, support the development of robust process technology specification according to best practice.
•    Collaborate with Supply Operations, Engineering, Supply, Commercial, as well as other DS1 teams in R&D in the implementation of DS1 innovation, value leadership and

     supply security projects onto the production lines.  Ensure consistency in quality and delivery of Product and Pack KQAs, be guardians of our products.
•    Maintain regular contact with experts for up to date information, standards and advice.
•    Represent Factory Innovation in R&D and Supply/Commercial Meetings 
•    Recipe management at site level for DS1 through the relevant systems. 
•    Supports the delivery of new supplier, new material translation at site for DS1 programs, with a responsibility for trial and start up execution. 
•    They fully contribute to the key business management processes and forums, including S&OP (IBP), QuEST, DQP's and Technical Design Reviews, QMP's, etc. as required.
•    Ensures that the Factory Innovation process is carried out such that project timelines are met and scope is delivered on time and in full.  
•    Supports the implementation of Global Process Standards and Innovations for all DS1 projects 
•    The role supports DS1 Factory Innovation and Engineering in implementing, innovating and optimizing current and future assets 
•    Remains abreast of new developments in food technologies, packaging, design, category trends and related fields. 
•    A key site technical contact for DS1 Factory Innovation
•    Coordinates trials for new products, Commissioning, Validation and Start-up planning and execution.  
•    They will work with the IP team to identify and protect any new innovation. 
•    Regional travel may be required to other factories as well as key markets.  


List background/experience using the following as a guide:
-    Minimum BSc degree or equivalent in Science/Engineering/Food Science/Technology/Packaging or related subject area.
-    5+ years of experience in a relevant field prefereed – R&D, Value Stream/ Operations.
-    Green belt Six Sigma accreditation preferred.
