Health Safety and Environment Technician

The Role

 

Based at our manufacturing site in leafy Asquith, the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Coordinator is given full responsibility for the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Company’s Environment, Safety and Health Management System. Sitting within a small, tight knit team of three, the right candidate will work across all aspects of the business and play an integral role in embedding our strong culture of safety to all associates.

 

This role will also work closely with the HSE Manager to identify and implement the requirements of local safety and environmental laws and regulations as well as the requirements of the Mars Global HSE Standards. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining and further develop the site Safety and Environmental Management System
  • Implementation of new Global Standards and local procedures to ensure full compliance to the Critical standards (Lock Out Tag Out, Workplace Transport, Working at Heights and Contractor Management)
  • Support, advice and coach all associates on various Safety and Environmental issues
  • Conduct risk assessments and support the risk assessment process by working close with Operators, Team Leaders, Maintenance department and Project Managers
  • Design and deliver regular toolbox and training sessions
  • Organise external training based on identified training needs
  • Promoting the Behavioural based safety program, leading by example
  • Actively participate in internal and external audits
  • KPI tracking and analysing, reporting to key stake holders
  • Liaising with various vendors in relation to PPE, inspections
  • Supporting the HSE Manager with all Safety and Environmental initiatives

 

The ideal candidate

  • 2+ years’ experience in a similar role within FMCG or Food Retail (preferred)
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Passion for creating a culture of safety in the workplace.
