We’re looking for a Senior Engineer – Packaging Development to join our Mars business.  This is a great opportunity for someone with advanced technical know-how to develop and execute across multiple projects which are helping Mars toward for effective, efficient, and sustainable packaging options, in line with our 2025 sustainability goal. 
 You would drive insights development, design innovation and translation of these innovations across our product categories.  You’d lead on our packaging development activities which help drive execution of projects within the European R&D Delivery team. 
 
What are we looking for?

  • You’ll need a degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering or other strong science-based degree; it would be beneficial if you’d obtained a master’s degree, though not required. 
  • You’ll be an expert in packaging constructions, materials, and machine interactions, with a strong background in packaging roles from within FMCG.
  • You have a strong understanding of packaging sciences, packaging development, legislation, and laws, within the context of a food production environment. 
  • You’ll be a strong stakeholder manager and relationship builder, able to understand others, and explain the technical aspects of your projects in more simple terms through excellent coaching and mentoring. 

 

What would be your key responsibilities?

  • You will lead packaging activities and execution of your projects, right from inception, to commercialisation, driving these forward with enthusiasm
  • You’ll ensure that The Five Principles are reflected in the projects you lead, with a particular focus on product, package and manufacturing quality across all product packaging lines. 
  • You’ll be responsible for ensuring the packaging development process aligns with our brands and meets brands key quality assurances.
  • You’ll work across the business within cross-functional teams to ensure that desirability, feasibility, and viability are evaluated, and that developed packaging can be scaled effectively. 
  • You’ll drive all aspects of packaging projects, leveraging external suppliers, through to managing Intellectual Property risks and beyond.
