Lead Operator

Salary - £24,830.40 - £31,037.73 plus Shift Allowance, Bonus and Exceptional Benefits

Location - Slough


We are now recruiting a Lead Operator for our site in Slough.  Working as a member of a shift team, the primary role of a Lead Operator is to demonstrate leadership, ownership and accountability for a number of machines, processes or pieces of equipment and carry out complex operational tasks required on one or more production lines. The Lead Operator will coordinate a small team of operators and temporary associates to achieve line KPIs and take the lead in repairing mechanical breakdowns having a contributory influence over a whole line's performance.


What you will do:   


  • Utilise Lean tools (e.g. 5Why’s) to lead investigation/identification of root cause for mechanical breakdowns.
  • Identify, diagnose then fix to root cause or escalate any deviation from standard within area of responsibility.
  • Support FMOS by analysing unplanned losses within area of responsibility using data and fact.
  • Take responsibility for attending & also leading DJTMs as required.
  • Work as part of a shift team to deliver required operational, technical and improvement tasks.
  • Deliver the required standards and outputs of safety, hygiene, quality, value and service from a number and range of assigned machines, processes and/or equipment, taking operational decisions as necessary to achieve area KPIs.
  • Suggest, initiate and implement improvement activities in own role and impacting on others within or connected with the team across all shifts.
  • Contribute to local work group and crossfunctional Lean or other improvement teams and activities as required.
  • Train and validate other Lead Operators and Operators to the required standard as required,

e.g. Machine operation/changeovers and SSWs.


What you will need:


  • Relevant experience and understanding of one or more Mars or external manufacturing roles.
  • Formal training and validated ability in mechanical systems, operation and fault finding.
