This role leads the Payroll Transformation efforts in the Asia Pacific region as part of a global cross-segment program that will ensure Payroll integration with new Workday HCM solution being rolled out globally, and evaluate the current payroll solutions in the region against global benchmarks and best practices to develop and deploy a transformation strategy aimed at achieving world-class performance standards around efficiency, effectiveness, experience and insights.

 

This role enables a comprehensive program plan including internal and external implementation partners through partnership with functional and technical teams. Ensures alignment of all work teams to resource and budget plans and manages plans, issues, risks, and decision logs along with financial forecasting for the Payroll Integration and Transformation program. Drives effective status reporting for governance bodies and ensures scope, schedule and budget are tracked in an efficient project structure.

 

The role operates across segments and functions partnering with segment Functional Experts and functional Business Partnership Managers to co-create the transformation roadmap for payroll solutions in the region. It brings in external/ best practice insights& trends from vendors, analyst and peer companies to influence and drive business transformation at scale for Payroll capabilities. Drive all key aspects of payroll transformation including strategic alignment, design authority for new capability, data/ application/information architecture, business case, program and process definition. Works with global business partnership community to ensure resources are secured for transformation programs, and works through influencing and direct control depending on the nature of the capability.

 

Key responsibilities:

Ensure Payroll integration with the new HCM solution

  1. Own and lead the Payroll integration efforts with the new HCM solution in the region, ensuring effective project planning and execution. 
  2. Track program issues, risks, decisions, and actions
  3. Facilitate workstream status meetings with payroll system owners/teams to adjust behaviours and activities to meet program goals
  4. Mitigate risk through proactive review of project plans, dependencies and resources
  5. Ensure all Payroll requirements are efficiently and effectively met
  6. Responsible for developing management reporting and governance updates to support leadership visibility to Technology Program

 

Develop & Deploy Payroll Transformation Strategy

  1. Help develop and drive the Payroll strategy within the Asia Pacific region, understanding and translating any local/ regional requirements to shape how the strategy gets adopted
  2. Support the Global Process Owner (GPO) on understanding external leading practices / benchmarks and help develop the process transformation roadmap for the region.
  3. Drive the implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) within the region
  4. Represent the GPO organization / Asia Pacific region on all Payroll process standardization projects/initiatives – identifying where customizations would be required
  5. Develop or validate the business case that supports the implementation of Payroll transformation projects within the region
  6. Accountable for ensuring the delivery of the stated business case within the region
  7. Collaborate and provide inputs, and participate in related initiatives (e.g. HCM, Time & Attendance) as it relates to Payroll within the region

 

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in IT, business or relevant business functions (e.g. Finance) or equivalent
  2. 7+ year's experience in Payroll, Finance or HR
  3. Demonstrable Subject Matter Expertise in Payroll Administration/ Operations
  4. Project & Program Management experience
  5. Lean Six Sigma (or equivalent) process improvement background is a plus
  6. Prior experience in Payroll or HCM implementation is a plus
