The National Sales Director, Vet Channel is accountable for supporting the creation and execution of the Vet Channel strategy to drive growth and achieve critical milestones in line with the company’s Pet Health and Nutrition initiatives. Reporting directly to the VP e-Commerce/Vet Channel, the successful candidates will manage a team of 50 Associates through Regional Sales Managers. We are seeking a transformational leader that has experience launching Salesforce, has a passion for people development and driven for results.  The National Sales Director will be directly responsible for portfolio that’s over $100m and have significant influence over the growing Vet business.  This is a highly visible role internally and externally and plays an integral part of the Vet and eCommerce leadership team.

 

Responsibility of this role includes: providing vision and strategic roadmap to multi-year sales and share growth, delivering annual business targets, and establishing and growing a strategic relationship with our veterinary clinics. Developing KPIs and objectives for sales associates and leaders as well as measuring and managing the workload of the Vet Sales Field teams. The National Sales Director, in the Vet channel must ensure that resources are allocated correctly to the Vet Field Sales team and are deployed efficiently. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Act as an ambassador to foster a culture based on the 5 Principles (Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency and Freedom) to build a highly engaged and high performing team. Create an open environment that fosters team building, resulting in motivated associates at all levels in all locations.
  • Ensure the financial targets and sales budgets associated with assigned areas of responsibility are managed within company targets.
  • Provides expertise and vision to peers, leader and team as a subject matter expert in Vet sales execution and results.
  • Consolidate insights from Area Sales Directors, review and analyze internal and external data and make recommendations to sales leaders across the business to improve execution and direction.
  • Ensure the development and future bench strength of Regional Manager Team to achieve world class sales leadership organization.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationship with senior level managers of Vet accounts.
  • Collaborate with the Scientific Service Veterinary leaders to foster and manage industry veterinary partner relationships, including veterinary associations and continuing education opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and support as the lead resource to the business operations team, focusing on data, and data review of the field sales team.

The successful candidate will set clear expectations and have development plans in order to provide ready now and future successors. They will also sponsor and mentor talent throughout the organization. As a line manager, the role is responsible for directing priorities and providing solutions to achieve /exceed company, Sales Operations and individual objectives.  The leader will also set expectations and oversee the achievement of individual objectives, monitor feedback and provide ongoing feedback.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 12-15+ years of direct sales experience; minimum of 5 years of multi-level sales leadership experience.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written).
  • Demonstrated leadership people leader (minimum of 7 years managing a sizeable team).
  • The ideal candidate should have displayed consistent results across multiple level sales organizations and experience working in multiple functions.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • MBA or Graduate Degree.
  • Animal Health experience.
