The Packaging Development Team which has its focus on Front End Innovation and concept development has the position of Sr. Packaging Developer currently vacant. In this position, you will own packaging innovation, identify and develop packaging solutions with reference to Mars Food’s global business, customer and consumer needs, as well as quality, cost and timing. You are a packaging expert and pioneer new ways of working internally and externally. Through your understanding of trade requirements in both conventional retail as well as discounters, e-commerce both on and off-shelf, you influence the packaging innovation program. You are familiar with consumer closeness and consumer research techniques and will use these to define, evaluate and develop new ideas through iterative prototyping. Evaluating packaging materials, equipment and manufacturing processes for safety, quality and cost-effectiveness is another important part of your responsibilities.

 

 

You serve as a point of contact within R&D, working closely with procurement, sales & marketing, supply chain and other divisions to ensure projects meet all business objectives and are delivered successfully. In participating to multi-disciplinary team meetings, you will take on a technical leadership role where necessary, liaising with other teams about the packaging development process, from idea or brief through to development and handing over the development for implementation in one of our Food factories around the globe. You will build and maintain a strong internal and external network, working closely with internal groups and departments to ensure the successful completion and delivery of projects, and bringing in new information from external events and contacts such as suppliers, external packaging organizations and institutes, as well as cross-segment networks.

 

Your present colleagues would describe you as a high potential who’s creative, action oriented, organizationally savvy and customer-focused. After obtaining your academic Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Packaging Science, Materials or Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering or similar, you’ve worked for at least five years in a technical field, ideally closely related to packaging. You have preferably worked and lived in different countries and cultures. You’ve demonstrated your competence in stakeholder management and influencing others without authority. You possess excellent project management skills and the ability to facilitate and lead cross-functional project teams in a deadline-driven environment. With your networking skills, you build strong professional internal and external networks that enable you to stay on top of the latest developments in packaging science and technology, and you are committed to personal learning and professional development. You are fluent in written and spoken English and are willing to travel 20% of the time.
