The Senior Manager, North American Procurement - Packaging Sourcing develops and manages the packaging category for North America including development of category strategies, risk mitigation, supplier relationship management, strategic sourcing, cost management and performance for both conversions of packaging and base packaging components.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY

The incumbent is accountable for developing, implementing and improving North America packaging procurement. The annual value of converted and raw packaging materials is approximately $500M. 

 

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

  • Utilizes strategic sourcing methodology to develop category strategies, source, negotiate and manage suppliers to deliver total lowest cost materials and mitigate the supply risks.  Intimately understands the category markets and cost drivers and develops annual budgets for the Region.
  • Initiates investigations opportunities in the sourcing of packaging converting, as well as the cost/risk analyses of packaging base materials.
  • Collaborate with other Mars segments on synergies to drive optimal value to the organization
  • Proactively works with suppliers to ensure the delivery of continuous improvement and technology which ultimately leads to competitive advantage and working capital reduction opportunities.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for cross-functional partners across the region, relative to sourcing activity.  Incumbent will work closely with the following cross-functional teams:  Quality, Innovation, Productivity, Copacker Team, Operations Business Team, Finance, Product Supply and Procurement Operational Team.
  • Works closely with Quality on development and monitoring of supplier performance. Partners with Supplier Quality Assurance to deliver PQM standards.  Ensure the suppliers to comply with the Social Responsibility Audit and the Quality Audit.
  • Works with cross-segment, cross regional Commercial teams to develop sustainability strategies for Packaging materials.
  • Work together with the Productivity Team to identify and implement the cost improvement initiatives. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Logistics/Materials Management or Finance and/or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of (8) years Procurement experience in a progressive procurement environment at a multinational consumer goods company. Packaging sourcing experience preferred.  
  • Strong experiences in strategic sourcing methodology,  e-sourcing, state-of-the-art risk management tools and supplier management programs
  • Solid computer skills; experience in SAP is a plus
  • Effective communicator; excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Sound interpersonal skills and leadership skills enabling the incumbent to work effectively within cross-functional teams
  • Strong project management experience
