Manager, External Affairs, Mars Wrigley
Newark, NJ/Chicago, IL


As the Manager of Global External Affairs, you will support the implementation of segment-level communications strategies to accelerate and protect Mars Wrigley’s growth as a Purpose-led, principles-based, great place to work. Your role will help the function in enhancing reputation by elevating our better moments through communications. 


This individual will work to drive all appropriate types of media and channels, lead key partnerships, contribute to sustainability communications and social engagement to continue to grow and increase share of voice and visibility for Mars Wrigley. The Associate will also be responsible for connecting with Corporate Affairs Associates across a range of projects, initiatives, and markets. Additionally, this individual will work closely with Brand PR to find the connection between Mars Wrigley’s iconic brands and relevant storytelling moments. 


What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field
  • Exceptional media/corporate communications with minimum 7 years’ experience 
  • 7+ years of media business experience including supervisory or management assignments
  • Must be fluent in English - both written and oral


Key Responsibilites:

  • Liaise with key Mars Wrigley functions to elevate their strategic external storytelling and thought leadership 
  • Collaborates brilliantly within Corporate Affairs, among Internal Communications colleagues, Public Affairs colleagues and our Mars, Incorporated Corporate Affairs team to equip our teams & markets to leverage content, ensure an integrated approach, internal awareness and collaboration on initiatives as needed.
  • Contribute to, and lead, global moments that support our Purpose awareness and Mars Wrigley contributions to Sustainable in a Generation plan.
  • Strong traditional media and social media skills – proactive/reactive 
  • This hybrid role will be expected to flex between Mars Wrigley Global and North American activities as needed to serve both the global segment and North American business. 
  • Collaborate with brand PR to integrate our brands into our corporate purpose campaigns.
  • Support external communications team in creating strategic integrated communications campaigns for opportunities and issues that have the potential to impact the Mars Wrigley business positively or negatively at a global level 
  • Raise the profile of Mars Wrigley Foundation with global stakeholders and build better moments for global community partners– taking an internal/external approach 
  • Partners with the Mars Wrigley Foundation, public affairs and business stakeholders on hometown strategy by building relationships with key stakeholders, non profits, and anchor institutions to support company objectives and community needs
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining Mars Wrigley corporate affairs knowledge systems and social content calendar
