eCommerce Tech Stack Lead, Backend - Direct to Consumer

What you’ll do


As the Backend Lead you’ll be responsible for building our end-to-end digital commerce tech stack, including commerce, analytics, and integrations with MarTech and AdTech etc.


With a deep understanding of Direct to Consumer and Business to Business (D2C & B2B) models, you should bring the following skills to this position:


  • deep technical expertise
  • a broad business understanding and a strong learning agility to adapt to new technologies
  • experience working with key partners on beta versions of tools and/or partnering with start-ups
  • ability to position Mars at the forefront of digital commerce while ensuring a secure robust platform


In this role you’ll perform the following activities:


  • Partner with Technical Product Managers & Lead Architects to create prototypes and proof of concept work for new platforms, services and product features
  • Work with lead architects to assess new technologies, document process flows and build reference architecture diagrams for end-to-end commerce platforms
  • Build an optimized commerce tech stack using reusable code and libraries that perform at maximum speed and scalability
  • Design and implementation of data storage solutions
  • Partner with cross functional teams to manage integrations and ensure first party data is flowing into the proper Mars systems and proper alignment and approval for end to end platform compatibility
  • Partner with product managers across B2B & D2C to ensure your tech stack meets all our customers and consumers current and future needs.
  • Developing a good understanding of new technologies quickly, and where necessary, educating other team members in best practices for using them.
  • Analyze business problems to develop technical solutions that will address your stakeholder’s challenges 


What you’ll need


To do all this, you’ll need:


  • Minimum 3 years of experience preferred building proper architecture to ensure a technically flawless digital commerce experience through core architecture setup
  • Possess a deep technical understanding of the full D2C tech stack (commerce, MarTech, AdTech, analytics, etc.) and the ability to leverage a diverse portfolio of tools to deliver an agile digital commerce product
  • Proficient knowledge of a back-end programming languages including PHP, Python, Ruby, Java, .NET, JavaScript, etc.
  • Hands-on experience building digital commerce solutions on platforms such as Demandware, Commerce Tools, Shopify, Magento & Open Source
  • Solid understanding of front-end technologies and platforms, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3; good understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors, such as LESS and SASS
  • Demonstrated experience with the following:  integrations and APIs, EDI, middleware, etc.; experiencing building efficient robust solutions with uptime and built-in security; management of hosting environments, including database administration and scaling an application to support load changes; and data migration, transformation, and scripting work
  • Participating in Agile-based work scheduling including sprint planning, sizing and retrospectives
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science or STEM technical discipline
