Due to a recent promotion we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Implementation Technologist to join the Site R&D team in the Mars Food factory in King’s Lynn. In this role you will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary teams to ensure excellence in the implementation of new products, packaging, processes and raw materials on site.  Working closely with the site operations, Q&FS-teams to implement process improvement initiatives and with engineering resources for capital projects to ensure that standards are met. You will be responsible for 2nd level troubleshooting support to Operations in the area of product, process and packaging, drawing on problem solving skills and statistical tools to ensure issues are resolved in the most efficient manner. Initiate and drive continuous improvement projects, be the key user of supportive systems and provide training on various areas.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Lead multidisciplinary teams (Site Implementation Lead) in the Implementation and validation of ingredients, products, processes and packaging through the PRP process including PC, TRA’s, HO1 and HO2. Main focus on A & B project activities.
  • Implementation and maintenance of specifications like SOP’s, DPO’s, pallet stacking at site level (raw materials, recipes, processes and packaging)
  • Lead factory trials using the test guidance tool including statistical evaluation where applicable.
  • Conducting product lab trials to evaluate thermal process verification and initial product evaluation for KQA purposes prior to full scale implementation.
  • Implementation training for R&D and Supply Associates
  • Continuous Product and Process improvement in collaboration with Supply and Engineering
  • Collecting statistical evidence of process, product, pack performances
  • R&D Level 2 Troubleshooting to resolve quality issues
  • Support the validation of new production lines and process equipment in conjunction with the AS&PD Teams
  • Develop and implement technical and procedural control measures in relation to the Mars Corporate Quality & Food Safety Standards.
  • Being a member of the site R&D team, maintain and improve food safety and quality standards in all activities performed
  • Responsible for training and coaching related to product, process, packaging and its validation on the shop floor.
  • Initiate and drive continuous improvement projects with the support of Operations, Engineering, IT, Product development, etc. using Lean tools such as PDCA, DMAIC, six sigma, etc.
  • Execute and manage internal and external audits, including follow-up of the CAPA process.
  • Key user for Nexus modules, MDI, Wonderware, Radar etc
  • Representing the Site R&D team to Supply where required.
  • Writing product related specifications

 

To do this role, you will need:

  • Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry or equivalent BS/MS degree is preferred
  • Quality mindset: drive for our first principle: “Quality”
  • Minimum 3 years in a Food Manufacturing environment working in Quality, Food Safety, Engineering or Product/Process development
  • Ability to train and coach others
  • Practical Knowledge of project management and lean tools such as Six Sigma, PDCA, Root cause analysis, etc.
  • Experience with risk assessments, incident management and problem solving
  • Knowledge of raw material Quality Management and production processes at the site
  • Specific skills e.g. Proficient in English, MS Word, excel, Powerpoint.
