Supplier Quality Assurance Technician/Specialist

 

You will be responsible to ensure that raw and packaging materials that meet/exceed the needs of the regional manufacturing sites and end-users. You will be responsible to drive continuous improvement projects, identify /execute cost improvement initiatives, assure food/human/product safety, lead continuous quality improvement, and perform supplier site visits and audits.  The role requires a passion for quality with a preference for functional expertise in food, consumer products and/or snack materials.

 

The Supplier Quality Assurance Technician/Specialist interacts extensively with the procurement, manufacturing, product, and commodity development teams with emphasis on a broad set of commodity categories with low to medium risk levels.

 

What we are looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • 3 years of experience in a technical area such as research and development, quality, operations, manufacturing, or engineering
  • Good common sense, decision quality
  • Free to travel in North America up to 50% of their time.  
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Need to satisfactorily achieve accredited Lead Auditor certification during the first year

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience with on quality management / food safety management
  • 2+ years of experience with supplier quality management
  • 3+ years of experience in a technical area such as R&D product development, quality, auditing, food safety, laboratory management, manufacturing, or engineering

 

What you'll be doing:

  • Assessment supplier’s capability to meet Mars standards of supply through:
    • Performing the SQA audit in a timely manner and drive completion of corrective actions
    • Review of analytical data compliance
    • Verifying that supplier hazard controls are operating effectively
    • Creates material risk assessments and supplier improvement plans
  • Partner with the buyer in ensuring the material specifications are reviewed, understood, agreed, and met by the supplier
  • Works in partnership with procurement/buying and quality teams to identify and execute inbound material cost, quality, food safety and efficiency improvement projects     
  • Manages specific inbound supply risks including material security, quality, food/product safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Conduct supplier reviews according to MQM/PQM standard
  • All other responsibilities as assigned
