Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the development of a high performing team of SQA associates and to provide functional and leadership effectiveness by delivering results through others. Demonstrates leadership by setting direction and deploying resources.
  2. Ensure the team is trained to levels required by the SQA Competence program and a talent pipeline program with clear priorities to continue to drive Raw Materials SQA capability.
  3. Lead the development and continuous improvement of the regional SQA quality manual, quality management reviews, and related processes such as SQA audit processes. This includes the ongoing management and development of the Mars Inc. audit process in addition to management of external audit capabilities. Provides governance and oversight to the regional supplier list.
  4. Drive a healthy Raw Materials supplier base for MWC China and provide the right Quality steer and Supplier development input for the Raw Material supplier base. Effectively resource supplier development programs to support the Global sourcing strategies and Innovation pipeline for Raw Materials.
  5. Leads the commercial division Raw Materials quality and product safety change management processes through review of new/existing specifications with the connection to goods supplying locations, development and implementation of work instructions, training, and problem-solving to assure compliance to Mars Global Standards.
  6. Work in partnership with Commercial Sourcing, Buying Operations, SRA, R&D, and Supply to identify and execute inbound material cost, quality, food/product safety, and efficiency/innovation projects. Translate these sourcing strategies into an actionable resource plan for SQA.
  7. Assures quality and consistency of Raw Materials within the market by performing supplier site audits, ensures completion of identified corrective actions, creates material risk assessments and supplier improvement plans. Performs supplier performance reviews and manages supplier performance metrics
  8. Provide leadership during Raw Materials High Impact Quality, Food Safety and Legal incidents and effectively manage quality and food safety incidents to minimize business risk. Working with suppliers to ensure the root cause of an issue is identified and that robust corrective and preventative actions are implemented in a timely manner, to prevent repeat incidents
  9. Year on Year Improvement in Supplier Quality performance to reduce Non Quality Costs and Risk of Failure in Raw Materials portfolio.
  10. Develops an extensive X functions network that ensures sufficient routes of communication are developed to promote robust engagement with internal and external stakeholders so that suppliers’   risks are transparent to all and/or open opportunities to consolidate and leverage resources that creates value to the business.
  11. Regional owner of driving MQM and UHBI implementation and drives compliance for MWC China.
  12. Support the development and implementation of new Raw Materials  in response to innovation pipeline, support delivery of COGS related projects which require Raw Material qualification and spec. changes
  13. Leadership of an SQA IT systems and tools roadmap for Raw Materials portfolio, ensuring training and functional experts to the support the team are in place.

 

Requirments:

  1. Preferably Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in either  Food Science, Food Engineering, Food Technology, Chemistry or  in an equivalent technical field
  2. A minimum of 10 years’ experience of food industry in a technical area, such as R&D, QA and production;  Food safety management and auditing experiences are preferred;
  3. Strong ability to lead, engage and develop a team. Preferably with line management experience
  4. Proficient in Quality and Food Safety technical auditing related to FMCG raw materials (preferred)
  5. In depth understanding of FMCG supply chain demands
  6. Proven track record of problem solving ability using scientific knowledge & principles.
  7. Practitioner and developer of risk management tools & techniques.
  8. Expert in Quality management tools & techniques e.g. QA, SPC, LEAN, HACCP
  9. Can perform under pressure and effectively prioritize activities for the team.
  10. A passion for driving continuous improvement & quality standards within Mars and externally within the supply base.
  11. Experience in facilitation and leading technical programs and change management in a multi-site FMCG business
  12. Good interpersonal and influencing skills
  13. Good command of English (both spoken and written); effective communication skill
  14. Can travel globally for supplier and internal segment meetings
