The position has the Supply Chain responsibility of planning production schedules and inventory levels that optimize customer service while balancing labor and inventory costs. The planner is the functional expert on inventory management, master production schedule (MPS), and sales & operations planning (S&OP).


Job functions include maintaining inventories within freshness and demand plan guidelines, ensuring accuracy of multi-site inventory, executing productions in line with supply strategies and operating plan targets, and implementation and maintenance of new items/SKUs.

II.Principal Accountabilities

  • Develop and revise schedules to comply with manufacturing constraints and guidelines.
  • Schedules and coordinate productions with co-manufacturers to optimize consumer demand and cost improvement opportunities.
  • Conduct MPS (Master Production Scheduling) meetings and communicate recommended production schedules to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage inventory allocations, kitting, production, and co-packing to maximize freshness and ensure inventory availability for distribution. 
  • Administer cycle count adjustments, auditing the inventory accuracy of raw/packs & finished goods and insuring proper inventory accuracy.
  • Proactively identify potential supply / demand issues and communicates these to the Supply Chain Director in a timely manner.
  • Prepare production reports comparing expected vs. actual output and costs.
  • Maintain adequate records of production, sales, and inventory.
  • Prepare special production studies, evaluations, and analyses for the purposes of strategy planning.
  • Drive process enhancements, either through new systems, additional functionality, or procedure changes that will increase business effectiveness.
  • Manage Supply Chain specific vendor inventory and financial transactions through Purchase Orders.
  • Perform ERP (Navision) production implementation and maintenance of planning parameters:
  • Create and maintain items, resources and routings
  • Amend BOM master data in production systems
  • Assign lead times and production batch sizes

VI.Key functional skills and knowledge

  • Strong computer skills (buying systems, email, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Requires an in-depth understanding of BOMs, MRP, and MPS as it relates to insuring that ERP data is properly configured.
  • Requires understanding of Inventory & Inventory Control Business Processes.
  • Requires excellent math skills and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication, both written and verbal.

VII.Key Experience

  • 3-5+ years relevant work experience in operations, scheduling and/or logistics related environment. 
  • Experience in managing inventories, BOMs, production schedules, using an MRP system, and/or troubleshooting system transactional errors a plus.

VIII.Desired education

  • Bachelor Degree preferred or Associates degree with previous operations experience.

X.Operating Environment & Guidance

  • Ability to flex schedule to accommodate and coordinate with co-manufacturers and suppliers in alternate time zones.
  • Travel approximately 10%
