Key Responsibilities
The Laboratory scientist ensures delivery of an efficient and effective laboratory service and facility. As a dedicated expert, the lab scientist is fully responsible for day to day laboratory operations and delivery of laboratory science as defined by the research plan, which includes:
1.Support research projects - 80%
Support research scientists with development and deployment of lab technologies and methods according to project requirements.
Responsible for methods validation, trouble shooting, and implementation.
Work closely with research scientists or independently to ensure milestones achieved efficiently.
Identify alternative laboratory methods or opportunities for method optimization.
Work on multiple research projects, potentially in both analytical and microbiological food safety research area.
Allocate time appropriately as defined by project priorities.
Responsible for the establishing and maintaining technical documents, records and SOPs, review and update according to the project progress.
Ensure that all SOPs are adequately implemented in the laboratory and that all users are appropriately trained.
Coach and train lab assistants to learn technical skills as needed.
Responsible for identify the technical risks and setup related prevention and control processes.
2.Process accordance – 20%
Support the laboratory manager with establishment, implementation and continuous improvement of the laboratory health, safety and environment (HSE) management system and laboratory quality management system to meet Mars HSE and QMP standards. 
Support internal and external ¬audit processes.  Ensure appropriate records management in line with required processes.
Communicate and cooperate closely with the lab manager to ensure efficient and high quality implementation of projects in progress according to the set goals. Ensure project status is clearly communicated and optimized accordingly.

 

Qualifications
1.Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s degree or higher in chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, food science, food chemistry, or similar disciplines.
2. A minimum of 3 years of industrial experience working in a chemistry, food chemistry, or food microbiology lab 
3. Multiple capabilities in food testing, food analysis, and related equipment operation skills
4. Operational capability of multiple advanced instrument is preferred
5. Fluent in oral and written English and Mandarin
6. Experience of working as part of a team, working together on multiple projects
7. Must demonstrate willingness and ability to learn new technical skills
