Head of Pet Parent Insights
Mars Pet Nutrition  - Strategy & Growth Transformation 


The Pet Parent Insights Team Lead leads a team of consumer and shopper insights associates to deliver insightful, actionable learning to business partners in marketing, sales, and eCommerce.  The Pet Parent Insights Team Lead drives business results by leveraging the voice and a deep understanding of the pet parent to influence the unit’s brand, category, channel, and retail strategies to drive accelerated growth. 

 

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum qualifications:
    • 7+ years of experience in insights, market research, or strategic consulting roles
    • 3-5+ years of experience in people management with track record of developing multiple direct reports.  
    • Successfully commercializing innovation, category solutions, or business strategies that unlock growth
    • Expertise in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods and ability to apply them to appropriately address business issues.
    • Experience with presenting to and influencing senior leaders and leading retailers
    • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Preferred qualifications: 
    • 10+ years of experience in a consumer/shopper insights or market research or strategic consulting role.
    • Experience leading the learning plan for a multi-brand or complex portfolio
    • Experience working in the food/beverage space or pet food category 
    • Experience working in a global business with broad network of stakeholders
    • Both Client-side and research agency side work in consumer products
    • MBA or other advanced degree


What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Set the direction for a team of 10 insights associates, creating a culture that lives the 5 Principles and supports strong engagement, development, and learning; champion insights best practices and a culture of pet parent centricity. 
  • Develop, align, and execute learning plan for the business that supports both the generation of foundational pet parent insights and inspires and validates critical growth initiatives for our brands, categories, and retail customers. 
  • Lead a team of strategic co-pilots for brand management teams and partner retail customers, creating dedicated learning plans that support key business objectives.  
  • Lead enterprise insights projects like segmentation, journey mapping, and jobs to be done to ensure Mars Pet Nutrition is on the forefront of consumer and shopper understanding. 
  • Synthesize insights to develop a fundamental understanding of pet care categories. 
  • Partner closely with the Category Leadership and Sales Planning and Strategy teams to deliver ready-to-sell category stories and vision documents and support the deployment of those insights to the organization and retail partners. 
  • Partner with Global Consumer and Market Insights on the validation of global innovation projects
  • Partner with the eCom insights team to translate real time insights generated through social listening and the voice of the customer into recommendations that inform the unit’s growth plans.  
  • Facilitate the deployment the Mars Laws of Growth and the flywheel growth planning process. 
  • Maintain ongoing collaboration with the global insights team and other markets to inform and syndicate best practices.
  • Manage relationships with key insights suppliers to maximize their contribution to the business
