Castle Cary (temporarily remote working however would consider home-based/hybrid work schedule depending on experience)

Due to continued growth we currently have a fantastic opportunity to work as a Demand Planner within our Royal Canin division. The Demand Planner role is pivotal to the supply chain to ensure a robust sales forecast is produced and adhered to. The Demand Planner role will support the continued growth of Royal Canin UK&IRE and development of our Demand Planning & S&OP+ capability. The Demand Planner role will be suited to somebody who is looking to advance their career and embrace progression opportunity along with a passion for optimum sales volume.


Demand Planner key duties:

  • The Demand Planner will deliver an accurate demand forecast for your Demand channels / Forecast Groups in collaboration with Sales, Marketing & many other stakeholders
  • By improving predictability of our sales volumes you’ll positively impact the customers service levels and support inventory optimisation
  • Co-create with Demand function an accurate and aligned volume demand plan for specific segments / customers, for the short, medium and long term
  • Create the best base forecast from the system by running the required history cleansing from abnormal events as well as understanding cannibalizations of promotional historical events or innovation launches
  • Facilitate a periodic review of demand together with each Key Account Manager (Forecast Alignment Meetings) and align on the demand that as is communicated to the entire local business through the S&OP process. 
  • Participate in the Local Demand Management reviews, where you present your forecast towards Sales Leadership Team
  • Participate In the Local Supply Management reviews, where you present your forecast to Supply Chain management as well as overview of Demand Risks & Opps
  • Maintain & ensure excellent data quality in Planning systems; managing product launches, delists and Route to Market changes In planning system
  • Maintain promotional calendar on behalf of Supply Chain, ensuring that promotional volumes are captured in Planning System and changes to promotional plans are communicated across Supply Chain
  • Maintain data visibility by owning Demand Power BI reporting and ensuring timely updates
  • Track forecast accuracy; measuring and reporting on SFA / BIAS, identifying root cause of deviations and implementing corrective or preventative action


Demand Planner experience/skills required:

  • Experience within Supply Chain (either demand or supply planning) is essential
  • Experience of planning systems is essential (e.g. FuturMaster, SAP)
  • Very good analytical skills and the ability to build strong cross-department relationships with robust interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Confidence communicating and presenting forecast to senior stakeholders whilst challenging feedback
  • An aptitude for working with data systems & analytics tools. Some knowledge of BI tools (e.g. Power BI) Is recommended and competence with Excel is essential
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to multi-task and prioritise
  • A self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and think outside the box/ go the extra mile for the department
