Hours: Days: Saturday, Sunday 7am-7:30pm, Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, Off Saturday, Sunday. Afternoons: Monday-Friday 3pm-11:30pm, Off Saturday, Sunday. Nights: Monday-Friday 11pm-7:30am, Saturday, Sunday 7pm-7:30am, Off Monday-Friday.



The Controls Technician role is responsible for:  Insuring safe, reliable performance of plant control processes, systems, and production lines. This associate must be multi-crafted with a heavy emphasis on software, control systems and electrical fundamentals. This associate must have excellent communication skills and be focused on customer (operations) satisfaction.  Their work includes on-line troubleshooting, repair, planned work, continuous improvement and capital projects.  Their activities are driven by area performance and planned work requests.  This associate must be able to independently identify issues and resolve with self-direction.  This associate shall have a passion for continued self-development, constantly seeking to upgrade technical skills in order to maintain the highest level of technical ability and knowledge of latest hardware / software trends.



  • Works on rotating shift basis as an integral part of a specific rotating team
  • Supports operational team with day to day improvement and troubleshooting of software applications and PLC controls with maximum focus on increased reliability
  • Electrical and controls support for operations and maintenance
  • Perform predictive and preventive maintenance
  • Interpret and maintain electrical schematics
  • Implement small scope projects in assigned areas
  • Identify, design and implement controls improvement solutions
  • Interface with contractors, vendors, engineering, maintenance and operations
  • Perform root cause analysis on process interruptions
  • Work with engineering on specific electrical and or controls projects from design to startup, including HMI and PLC programming, installation, checkout, start-up and training
  • Provide on shift – plant wide support (including overtime coverage for vacancies) for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolution of Level I (PLC/Servos) and Level II  (HMI) system related problems



Education / Training:

  • Must have High School Diploma
  • Associate of Applied Science in electrical / electronic or related technical training preferred
  • Industrial controls training / certification preferred


Industrial Technical Experience:

  • 5 years industrial maintenance experience desired
  • 5 years industrial controls experience desired


Software Systems Experience:

  • MSSQL Databases
  • PLC Programming
  • HMI software
  • Computer operating systems
  • Virtual PC environments
  • Batching process control systems

Hardware Systems Experience:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, install, and upgrade the following:
    • Plant Controls Ethernet Network
    • Plant Controls PLC Networks
    • Computer Hardware
    • Programmable Logic Controllers
    • Various other controls devices (Servos, VFDs, instrumentation, etc.)
    • Motors, motor control circuits, power distribution systems up to 600 VAC


Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and self-directed capability
  • Demonstrated capability in the following controls systems
    • Electricity & motor controls including
      • Variable Frequency Drives
      • Servo Axis Motion Controllers/Drives
      • Soft Motor Starters
      • Mechanical Motor Starters
      • Motor control centers
      • Hard wired electrical circuit troubleshooting
    • Controls & instrumentation including
      • Digital/Analog control and monitoring
      • Solid state relays and switches
    • Equipment & system controls design including
      • Large Process controls systems
      • Machine level control systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft and Linux Server & Desktop Operating Systems
  • Demonstrated knowledge in configuration, installation, and troubleshooting of industrial networks including Ethernet routers, switches, and cabling
