We are seeking a Senior R&D Process Development Engineer (aka Senior Engineer Process) for our Mars Wrigley segment located at the Wrigley Engineering Technology Center in Chicago. 


A Senior Engineer Process is responsible for leading the development, design, implementation, and validation of new manufacturing processes and equipment for Mars Wrigley (MW) business globally.  Individuals are expected to lead technical programs and will be responsible for building test plans and reporting on results for these programs.  This position is an important role to deliver our innovation pipeline across multiple technologies and product platforms across the MW portfolio.  This position is expected to execute process development activities related to new product and technology development projects as the lead process engineer part of a work team. 


What would your key responsibilities be?


  • Brings strong science and engineering skills to the position.  Serves as a technical expert in their field and as technical consultant to other team members. 
  • Manages project and budget (capital and expense) ensuring technical integrity of new processes.  Adheres to Mars Engineering design, quality, and safety standards.
  • Responsible for communication of research outcomes to all key stakeholders and partners.
  • Creates global process specifications based on trial results and data analysis.
  • Provides coaching and mentoring to technical associates globally to continuously upskill global capabilities.  Actively leads in team engagement action planning and implementation.
  • Ability to make connections, using literature and patent reviews, to the new technology being developed and provide the team with the fundamental understanding of the process.
  • Ability to clearly communicate and present the results and conclusions.  Generate technical reports of their findings.  Assist in the translation of technology ideas into visual, physical models, working prototypes, and end-to-end business solutions.
  • Ability to make sound judgment and decision.
  • Have the capability to understand their given technology with future expertise to quickly learn new technologies.
  • Lead technical teams through the use of HPC and PM tools. Understand, Implement and be an ambassador for the TRL / PPM process.
  • Apply statistical analysis, Six-Sigma principles, Early Equipment Management fundamentals, and problem solving.
  • Utilize Intellectual Property (IP) management skills as liaison with key external partners and scope new technical opportunities within the broader CPG industry.


What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Food, Chemical or Mechanical) or technical field of study required.
  • Project Management skills.
  • Five (5) plus years of relevant Food or CPG industry experience.
  • Experience working in manufacturing factories, labs, or pilot plants.
  • Ability to travel up to 25-50% of the time.
