Purpose of Role:

Mars Wrigley Confectionery segment recognizes that in order to maintain category leadership and growth, delivering its Health & Wellness (H&W) strategy is essential.  The H&W strategy transcends initiatives in renovation of current portfolio, innovation and future portfolio, as well as external stakeholder engagement and practices. As the new segment refines its long-term growth agenda, executing the H&W strategy with excellence is a crucial element of this agenda. The Global Director- H&W Strategy and Innovation position will play a critical role in providing H&W leadership and subject matter expertise to enable strategic decision-making for all Category Business Units within the segment portfolio.  

 

This leadership role will be responsible for building a high performance collaboration environment and drive engagement across multiple disciplines within the segment. The incumbent will also be responsible for the development and monitoring of the implementation of a robust strategy capable of delivering agreed priorities in a rapidly evolving global market, while ensuring that the financial targets of the segment are met.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Drive discussions, shape solutions, and evaluate the brand and market relevance through clear and consistent subject matter expertise
  • Develop and oversee a H&W strategy that delivers against the business objectives of the overall segment strategy and Category Business Units (CBU’s)
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for external perspective (ie-trends, policies, headwinds and opportunities) that would impact our operating units and determine which are appropriate to internal strategy
  • Create and monitor programs intended to improve the overall portfolio with measurable results, and report on these commitments
  • Prioritization of program investment opportunities to ensure maximum ROI and direct P&L impact, collaborating closely with Finance (S&F) and corporate leaders
  • Identify, recommend and co-develop future opportunities for H&W which will further enhance segment deliverables
  • Initiate, lead, and manage projects which will deliver against strategy
  • Take leadership in adjusting approach or focus as new insights are generated
  • Coordinate and lead a multidisciplinary working group to ensure delivery of strategic initiatives
  • Serve as an advisor to the Confectionery segment leadership teams and cross-segment teams on H&W topics
  • Other activities as required

Key Experiences

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a global role leading/influence transformational change, ideally in the area of H&W
  • Demonstrate ability to structure, plan and execute problem solving against key investment areas, resulting in actionable recommendations
  • Ability to support and develop business cases, including evaluation of financial models to forecast the costs involved within the H&W strategy
  • Develop, lead, and execute against formal processes to ensure a pipeline of new projects are continuously being identified, evaluated, and integrated into strategy
  • Develop executive-level presentations, program updates, set targets, timelines; interact with senior executive leadership, including executive sponsors to ensure success of opportunities

 

Desired Education

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree (BA), Master’s Degree preferred; Ideally in a technical field (Engineering, Science, Supply Chain or similar) or Public Policy or Communications

     

Other Considerations

  • Must be able to travel internationally (~30%)
