Mars Wrigley Confectionery is looking for a Sr. Manager, Global Packaging Development - Sustainability in Chicago, IL

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Create technical packaging sustainability strategies for achieving long term business objectives, while leading teams to design with the “end-of-life” of the packaging material in mind. 
  • Experiment with and scope innovative packaging materials for their value, and communicate outcomes with recommendations
  • Create and manage “test & learn” and development plans for new packaging technologies that create a competitive advantage in regions or markets.
  • Manage ambiguity and energize the team to stay focused on mid-term and long-term goals
  • Be resourceful and find creative solutions to complex technical and organizational challenges
  • Demonstrate extraordinary people skills, customer obsession and attention to detail

 

Key Experiences

Delivery:

Advanced skill level in delivering results by managing, leading and coordinating a team to deliver program activities while also acting as an individual contributor. The Senior Manager delivers technical/ functional programs through others that are directed by the business needs and/or R&D functional needs activities. You complete complex projects quickly and adeptly with your understanding of the business priorities. You are diplomatic, professional and exercise great judgment in developing and maintaining excellent business relationships within the business.  You are serious about delivering results, and takes pride in a proven track record in delivering on challenging objectives.

 

Business Strategy:

Actively builds program strategy at an advanced level.  Proactively identifies opportunities to develop and optimize the global program against the strategy. Acts with appropriate urgency to various market events and trends that require a quick turnaround in plans and strategy. 

 

Technology/ Program development:

Builds the short to medium-term functional initiative pipeline.  Drives the global program from start to finish, collaborates with multi-disciplinary cross-functional teams to ensure successful program launch.

 

People & Technical Capability development:

Advanced and actively leads associates in area of own expertise.  A motivated leader that can inspire others; you respect your commitments and are able to obtain optimal results from your team.

 

Qualifications

Minimum

  • Bachelors’ degree in Science, Engineering, Quality, or relevant field and/or military experience
  • 12 years of work experience
  • 7 years of People Leadership experience
  • 1 year experience identifying and implementing technology, products, or processes to improve experiences or efficiency
  • Experience working with all levels of management; demonstrated strong business acumen
  • Demonstrated solid verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 25%

     

Preferred

  • Chemical Engineering, Bio Chemistry, Supply Chain or Packaging Engineering Degree
  • MBA or Masters in Engineering Management
  • 17 years of relevant work experience
  • Familiarity with change management
  • Ability to educate others
  • 4 years of consulting, or related experience in an operational environment, including experience creating a vision that inspires individuals / organizations to take action
  • Experience with Consumer Packaged Goods, Resin suppliers, or Recycling
  • 2 years working in an innovative work environment
  • 1 year experience in a start-up environment
  • 1 year working in an extremely ambiguous environment with limited guidance, with demonstrated problem solving experience
