Job Purpose:

The role manages purchasing categories for indirect goods and services at a global level with the primary focus on strategy execution/ creation to deliver long term competitive advantage by maximizing value for money and protecting the business.  He/She will drive lean end-to-end support for a specific group of goods and services (Marketing & Sales Categories) in the indirect sourcing area across multiple Mars segments: MWC, Petcare, Food and additional Segments may be added over time. He/She is responsible for the execution of the global strategies in conjunction with the Sourcing team and will be the lead buyer for his/her categories, guiding and directing the regional execution by the local teams. He/She will work closely with the sourcing managers and is responsible for the efficient and effective execution of sourcing strategy activities for global stakeholders and leading multi-market initiatives together with local commercial teams. This role is responsible for identifying and delivering value chain optimization opportunities and ensures that the team acts as the first line of escalation on issues between suppliers the business, all within the context of driving the supplier relationship management process.

Key Responsibilities:

1- Drives and executes sourcing strategies using the MSSM framework and the appropriate tools for the market category (routine, leverage, bottleneck, critical) in conjunction with sourcing peers. May be required to develop smaller strategies as directed.

2- Develops and implements global operational category standards and rolls them out into the regional teams

3 - Establishes, maintains and leads active marketing communities with the Category Buying Managers across all regions to drive benchmarking and best practice

4- Works collaboratively with global stakeholders for these categories and other cross functional partners to develop and implement global standards.

5- Develops and implements Global contracts and related Service Level Agreements for the respective categories (securing price, volume rebates, capacity & service levels in line with the needs and commitments to the business) and supports / directs local buying teams on the regional execution for those contracts.

6- Establishes & maintains relationships with internal clients (such as Marketing and Sales Heads, Segment

7- Implements and complies with standard processes and tools to ensure responsible, continuous and sustainable sourcing in line with commercial policies, systems and controls.

8- Is responsible for delivering agreed annual sourcing plan targets and other key commercial metrics.

9- Ensure governance and strategy institutionalization and ensures compliance with proper procedures, policies, systems and controls.

10- Participate in external forums and associations.

Context and Scope:

This role will collaborate with both the Global sourcing teams and the regional teams in the Marketing Category to ensure development and deployment around 3 key enterprise initiatives including Media, Through the Line and the relationship with the supplier BBDO on creative.  This person will need to influence global and regional stakeholders in the segments and will act as the lead buyer for the marketing category on the initiatives listed above.  As lead buyer, they will need to help develop the community of buyers across the regions and on the global team.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Fluent in English

Knowledge and Experience:

  • 5 years of professional experience, ideally with supplier/customer management experience & financial acumen
  • 3 years of previous Marketing and Sales buying experiences
  • Experience working with Senior Business leaders VP and above
  • Tendering Production Houses
  • Negotiation of Adaptation Rate Cards
  • Management of Production Consultants
  • Talent negotiations
