Mars Data Analytics Internship Experience

As a Data Analytics Intern, you may work in one of the following functional areas:

  • Data Engineering:

The core function of this job is to keep data flowing and readily available in order to solve problems. This may be done through Agile sprints or self-service analytics. Without people in this crucial role treating data as an asset, we won’t be able to become the business we want to be.

This role will partner with Product Owners to establish and maintain the data pipelines (ETL/Batch/Streaming) within different technology platforms, such as SAP/SAP BW and Microsoft Azure. Work closely with users from our segments and markets around the world, as part of SCRUM teams. This exposure will also present the exciting opportunity to create true ‘firsts’, by influencing and contributing new and emerging approaches that Mars, and maybe even the industry, hasn’t seen before.

  • Data Scientist:

The core function of this role is to inspire the whole Mars business to adopt data driven decision-making by developing advanced analytics methods. This will be accomplished through mining vast amounts of data from company databases for insights that will help solve business problems and ultimately make Mars more profitable.

Another key function includes choosing the most appropriate technique to develop custom data models and algorithms, based on business needs and available data. Moreover, the data scientist intern will create processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy, all while delivering with a high level of detail and accuracy.

  • Business Translator:

A successful Mars Business Translator needs to fully understand Mars and the work we do. Using this knowledge, the translator will team with the Mars Decision Science team to unearth key insights to solve business problems that ultimately contribute to profitability.

The data translator will create a hypothesis to test by immersing themselves in the problems key business stakeholders face and providing business context to the Decision Science team. Then as new information, insights, and feedback are generated, they will refine and build on your hypothesis.

What we’re looking for:

  • We are looking for humble and hungry, agile students who have a drive for results, a desire to learn, and who can quickly build relationships.
  • We are looking for students who are in IT/IS, all STEM majors and having passion for working with big data
  • Eligible candidates will intern the summer prior to their final graduation date (typically rising seniors)
  • We have Data Analytics internship opportunities in Chicago and New Jersey.
  • Open to students legally authorized to work in the U.S., without the need for current or future work status authorization or visa sponsorship for employment
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of drug & background screening

Mars is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. If you need assistance or an accommodation during the application process because of a disability, it is available upon request.
