Job Summary

The primary role of the Putaway Clerk role is supporting the day to day operations of the finished goods warehouse. Daily job duties are driven by customer orders, Finished good receipts from Co-Man, production output and/or inter-departmental needs and therefore constantly changing.

 

It is the responsibility of the Clerk to ensure logistics activities are conducted in accordance with Mars quality and food safety standards, while maintaining a safe work environment. 

 

Every associate at Mars Fishcare has the responsibility for the achievement of associate safety and for our network’s quality and food safety.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Efficiently put all production output as well as incoming finished goods from co-manufacturers away into designated bins in the finished good warehouse.
  • Ensure accuracy/integrity of all putaways and transfers into the finished good warehouse
  • Accurate loading of trucks with customer orders
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels in pickable bins ensuring accurate transfers of inventory in our operating system
  • Provide vacation relief to key functional positions
  • Assist in picking customer orders as needed
  • Develop strong business relationships with internal customers as a key responsibility of this position.
  • Recommend and implement changes in methods, equipment, systems as needed to assure that the daily objectives are met.
  • Maintain safe/clean working environment by adhering to warehouse cleaning and inspection schedule
  • Maintain acceptable level of attendance according to the current policy
  • Other duties, as assigned

  • Inventory transactions and pick accuracy
  • Ability to make lower level tactical decisions, but primarily looking to Logistics Coordinators for clarification.

 

 

Key Technical Knowledge and Functional Skills

  • Able to work with different groups and departments
  • Experience with varied warehouse equipment including but not limited to fork trucks and electric pallet jacks
  • Communication with various trucking companies
  • Flexibility to work on several projects in a day
  • Experience in inventory transactions, and participating in periodic Physical Inventories.

 

Requirements and Preferred Experience

 

Required

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repetitively
  • Must be able to lift over 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Must be able to adapt to temperature and environmental extremes such as hot to cold, dust and dirt.

Other Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic understanding of PC’s and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word).
  • Strong interpersonal (collaboration, negotiation, communication) skills with the ability to work in a team environment with a positive attitude and minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate to managers and team members any production, quality/food safety or other business critical information vital to operations and customer service.
  • Good basic math, reading and writing skills

Preferred

 

  • Certified Forklift Operator
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV
  • One or more years of experience in warehousing-manufacturing operational environment.
  • Working knowledge of logistics, transportation, warehousing, import/export areas
  • Working knowledge of inventory control and customer service
