Purpose of Role

The Market Finance Manager owns two different roles within Mars Fishcare. The first is the key support for the Global Sales and Marketing teams giving them accurate qualitative information for decision making and ensuring the proper control environment exists. The second function is to support the financial planning and analysis for the organization which drives decision making and strategic outlook. The role proactively collaborates with various demand and unit leadership to provide perspective and actionable insights which influence the strategic and operational decision making of the organization.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Co-Pilot business leaders in support of meeting business targets in finance and performance operations (budget owners, Customer, Brand, Markets and Channel P&L).
  • Co-Pilot GM and CFO in support of business strategy through establishing and measuring growth and profit in targeted growth markets, customers and product lines.
  • Partner with the Market Leadership Teams to obtain and maintain an in-depth knowledge of customer and channel strategies, risks and opportunities, promotional activities and financial metrics. Recommends how to optimally deploy the market specific resources to best meet the needs of the business
  • Proactively identify and analyze business issues and opportunities, including recommendations for future actions. Initiate, lead, and manage projects which will improve current business results and deliver against strategy.
  • Support the period-end, quarterly and year-end financial reporting process, ensuring proper recording in SAP general ledger and accurate account mapping to FPPS to meet corporate and internal reporting deadlines
  • Implement the ROI approach on all sales and marketing investment strategies
  • Develop and maintain consolidated reporting packages for use within both global business companies
  • Assist with the driving/leading of key Governance related initiatives and projects. 
  • Maintain compliance with corporate procedures and proper internal controls, including MARS Financial Manual and US GAAP.   Consult functional areas and Governance to provide technical guidance on transactions, policy and procedure compliance while implementing internal controls where necessary.

Key Functional Skills/Knowledge

  • Experience and strong knowledge of financial accounting & GAAP
  • Detail oriented and have excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a team oriented outlook.
  • Strong computer skills, experience with financial reporting systems.  Ability to learn systems and how they interact with one another (cause and effect).  Microsoft Office, including Advanced Excel
  • Comfortable in communicating technical concepts in a way that can be understood by non-users of the system.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS in Accounting or Finance required
  • 5+ years business experience, including accounting, auditing, financial analysis, and internal control is preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and proven ability to manage processes within a complex and ambiguous environment
  • Working knowledge of sales and marketing processes and strategies required
  • Ability to travel when required - <10% of the time

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or MBA preferred
