We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a production operator to work within our Castle Cary site across rotating shifts; the machine operator will be responsible for working the extrusion machine to contribute to the manufacture of a consistently high-quality product. With excellent training and progression opportunity available, the role is suited to somebody who is willing to learn and take their career to the next level. 


The job

The Production Operator will be a multi-skilled process associate who is responsible for achieving maximum efficiency of our Grinder/extrusion process whilst ensuring our highest Safety and Quality standards are maintained. The production operator will also play a pivotal role in identifying and delivering continuous improvement projects within the processing areas.


Production Operator key responsibilities:

  • As the Production Operator you will maintain excellent grinder efficiency in line with the set plan and escalate any deviation from standard or plan
  • Support peers in achieving highest Safety, Quality and Efficiency standards throughout the processing area
  • Be responsible for the achievement of GMP/GHP process score
  • Ensure cleaning regimes are upheld and fulfilled to the highest standard
  • Actively participate in Operational processes that support the improvement of our business performance
  • Ensure Critical Control Points and mandatory Quality checks are completed as required and deviations are escalated through FMOS using the appropriate channel
  • Identify and deliver continuous improvement ideas to support fulfilment of the site goals & strategy
  • The Production Operator will comply with all Safety and Quality standards
  • The Production Operator will be a flexible member of the team that does what is required to ensure maximum efficiency and output of the line whilst adhering to our Quality & Safety procedures
  • The Production Operator will be required to have a broad understanding of the area operation and how it interfaces with different parts of the plant


Production Operator skills and experience:

  • Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent)
  • Excellent Written and Spoken English
  • Experience in an FMCG Manufacturing environment preferred but not essential
  • Experience from a similar role essential; you could have worked as a manufacturing operative; extrusion operative; macinery operative; factory operative etc.
  • Flexibility, Team Player and Great Communication Skills
