• Job Purpose / Overview
Royal Canin has an ambition to become the reference in health nutrition for cats and dogs.  Through this ambition we can improve the lives of cats and dogs through science, innovation and specialization.

Scientific Communication has played a critical role in the delivery of our scientific message to all stakeholders. The stakeholders include (but not limited to) veterinarians, Key Opinion Leaders, breeders, shelters, NGO’s, Key pet shops, pet owners and internal associates.

The jobholder is also responsible for the development and execution of training, scientific communication programs and materials for all stakeholders to contribute the sales goals of the business and help drive our brand reputation/ improve brand awareness.

The jobholder is expected to make good relationship with global/APAC community and R&D in order to get consensus for external/internal scientific communication.

• Key Responsibilities

- Develop the local Scientific Communication activity plan aligned with specific needs of responsible pillars and CA strategy.

- Develop scientific communication materials and training modules for the local market.

- Develop and conduct technical/products/nutritional presentations to key internal and external stakeholders to disseminate information regarding products and pet nutrition.

- Provide scientific support to CA sub-functions (Consumer Care, Regulatory Affairs, Communications and Scientific affairs) as well as pillars and D&D2C.

- Join APAC technical and scientific training calls to understand global/region strategy, get insights from other counties’ activities, improve Japan’s visibility .
- Facilitate Japanese scientific team meetings periodically.

• Context and Scope

- The jobholder will collaborate closely with Scientific Communication Manager and the critical stakeholders including Scientific Affairs, Pillar marketing/sales, Consumer Care, Regulatory Affairs, and Communication team.

- The jobholder will keep up to date with all products launches and veterinary/scientific information (through continuing education) needed for the role.

- The jobholder will represent Royal Canin as spokesperson at local conferences/ public events/ scientific and trade media as required.

- The jobholder will be responsible for presenting/nutritional trainings to key external stakeholders as required by the business unit (this can include but is not restricted to veterinarians, breeders, Universities, KOL’s

- The jobholder will be responsible for training internal stakeholders (associates) including but not limited to: on-boarding, new product/product uplift training, sales representative and consumer care teams.

- The jobholder will be responsible for creating/adapting scientific materials and modules

- The jobholder will provide technical support with marketing/sales and digital teams during product launches/product, as well as regulatory affairs teams/ consumer care teams with veterinary/product quality issues/issues management as required.

• Relevant Quantitative and Budget Information
Average 3- 10 seminars for external stakeholders in a year (depending on the needs of responsible pillars).

1-2 overseas biz trip in a year, weekly/Monthly meetings with responsible pillars.

• Job Specifications / Qualifications

1. Education & Professional Qualification 

  • Bachelor of Veterinary Science(or Equivalent)
  • In clinic experience (preferably 2+ years) as practitioner
  • Veterinary Industry Experience desirable


2. Knowledge & Experience

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written)
  • Excellent PC skills (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Ability to work alone without close supervision but also able to function well as a team player
  • Veterinary/Scientific knowledge important (ideally including nutrition, products)
  • Evidence of external veterinary and scientific networks desirable
  • Fluency in English and Japanese language is required.
