Salary: £35,000 - £50,000 + 12% bonus + benefits

Royal Canin operates under a pillar structure with three distinct sales and marketing pillars, Speciality Retail, Vet and Professional/ Breeders. Reporting to the UK & Ireland CFO the job holder will work across the Speciality Retail and Pro/Breeder pillars in the UK unit as the key finance liaison with Pillar Heads, Sales and Marketing teams and CFO to support financial delivery of both pillars. Requires collaboration across the business with functional directors, Sales leaders and Marketing leaders. The co-pilot is required to support and guide the pillar heads but also stand alone and challenge where necessary giving due consideration to the financial return and governance as necessary.




This job exists to Co-pilot Retail and PRO/Digital Pillar Heads in managing the financial shape of their pillars by providing financial insight through the analysis and presentation of sales and profit performance in order to support business development and meet financial targets.




  • Build trusting relationships with RC Retail and Pro/Digital Pillar Heads advising them on business plans, financial outlook, returns and broader matters steering the business to deliver the target financial shape.
  • Supports the Financial Shaping Process and target setting within the Retail and PRO pillars. Ensuring financial plans are fully aligned to the strategic direction and aspirations of the business.
  • Manage Steps 1 & 2 of the S&OP process within the Retail and PRO pillars. Reviewing performance and outlook against plan / expectations and identify actions to be taken. Ensure fundamental decisions and gaps to plan are appropriately escalated to step 4. Modelling of financial shape and outlook, with strong directional periodic forecasts - volumes, NSV and profit expectations reflective of product / customer mix.
  • Develops and implements process improvements to ensure financial processes are effective and efficient
  • Effectively co-ordinate resources across the market unit to deliver against financial objectives. Engage Associates to achieve their maximum potential and contribution to the unit’s objectives.
  • Create insight and analysis on pillar sales performance and customer growth rates and trends
  • Support KAMs through analyzing and challenging customer terms and promotions with an ROI mindset
  • Support Marketing teams with A&P budget management and investment decisions
  • Support pillar related commercial projects as necessary (SRM, Price matching, P48, CRM etc)





  • Understanding of HFM, Essbase and Navision would be desirable
  • Strong Excel skills essential                                           



  • Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA, CIMA etc)



  • Good financial understanding & strong analytical skills to be able to identify issues and trends
  • Able to work collaboratively, build credibility and influence others,
  • Ability to stand alone and challenge others
  • Must be an agile learner and dedicated to driving improvements.
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong business acumen and perspective beyond the numbers
  • Ideally have worked in industry and have experience working with Sales and Marketing teams or supporting functions beyond finance
  • Consumer goods or Retail experience (desirable but not essential)
