The Operations Manager leads and integrates the efforts of operating teams across multiple shifts to ensure that quality products are safely manufactured in sanitary conditions.

This position is responsible for efficiently and effectively managing within cost goals and produce sufficient quantities to meet our customer's demands with engaged associates.

This position is accountable for sanitation operations, including pest control, for entire factory

This position will also provide leadership and motivation on Strategy, FMOS, and Associate Development.

 

Main responsabilities

  • Guaranties compliance to safety, quality/GMP/GHP, sanitation and environment standards and rules, and efficiency programs in full alignment with Mars rules & Five Principles
  • Manages and coaches all production leaders through effective leadership on Great Line Management
  • Engage all the Operation associates into site strategy & delivery
  • Implements WOW that accelerate results delivery and own the FMOS process & principles
  • Drives all operational KPIs (TRS, ATS, NQC, productivity) as a key enabler of site delivery (CSL, GMAC, stocks, MCCs)
  • Applies CI mindset on all aspects of the operations performance (KPI delivery, organization, management systems, mindset & behavior) - Inputs on CI/PPI projects/modifications requests (new products, efficiency)
  • As a key Management Team member, contributes to all activities that will drive the Royal Canin business towards its future. Supports & develops cross functional ways of working & “line of one” mindset & approach. Shapes the future of his/her function and proposes specific strategies
  • Deploys & makes his direct reports and roll up deploying consistent & persistent engagement program (Gallup focus & action plans) through a foundation of teamwork and individual accountability
  • Proactively manages associate relations issues; guides and directs the hiring, training and motivation of Operations associates following HPC principles and a clear and efficient communication
  • Develops a working environment and a mindset that increase all Operation associates engagement into site strategy
  • Ensures a smart translation of site priorities into individual & team objectives and goals
  • Develop multi skills and sustains operators functional capabilities to be autonomous and involvedPushes down in the organization the lean principles & behavior for all managers
  • Leads and develops processes, tools and skills in order to reach higher quality and cost effective performance according to the standard policies
  • Participates to the improvement of the manufacturing equipment and processes in a close cooperation with the engineering and maintenance teams
  • Advocates and actively supports the site Operating System. Proactively coaches direct reports and others in delivery of all the Operating System
  • Identifies the long term associates development needs of the business in order to propose and implement adequate actions (process of multi-skills and multi-competencies to optimise operations)
  • Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the capacity and resources issues facing the factory and functions at both strategic and tactical levels in the management and decision making process
  • Be custodian of labor cost optimisation (associates and temporary workers) and ensures action plan on absenteeism with P&O
  • Food defense team leader by delegation: risk analysis and action plan management. Responsible also for food defense training deployment.
  • Back-up of the plant manager

 

You’ll manage a team of 9 direct reports and 130 operations associates.

 

Profile

  • Master Degree in food science or engineering (Bac +5)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in French/English
  • Line Management Experience (7-10 years) in a manufacturing/industrial environment
  • Food industry or consumer packaged goods industry a plus
  • Production supervisor experience mandatory
  • Change Management / Project management Experience
