The Role


Our Mars Wrigley Confectionery (MWC) business has an exciting and unique opportunity for an experienced Business Development Manager (BDM) to join a newly established team, you will play a key role in the launch of our new platform for healthy snacks in Australia.  As the Business Development Manager, you will be accountable for driving the development and business growth in non-traditional channels as well as collaborating with the MWC key account teams to develop best in class activations for this portfolio. You will be responsible for establishing relationships with key customers as well as achieving account-specific goals, including volume objectives, forecast accuracy, promotional execution, distribution targets, new line speed to shelf, and retail execution.

You will deliver innovative, fact-based solutions and thought leadership for existing customers, whilst continually identifying new growth opportunities through an expanded customer base. If leveraged in market, this role will also be responsible for the ongoing performance and management of the portfolio’s distributors.


What you’ll do with Mars Wrigley Confectionery:


  • Develop and deliver customer plans to achieve objectives within budget, and short & long-term solutions;
  • Actively seek new business opportunities;
  • Manage trade funds to support marketing and promotional plans, determining pricing and distribution and negotiating with key accounts;
  • Accurate forecasting for a dynamic category and innovation;
  • Present annual marketing plans to customers and execute plans;
  • Influence customer(s) to implement solutions through fact based presentations that deliver mutually beneficial results;
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align with brand and category objectives and develop go-to-market retail strategies;
  • Work with Field Sales and Field Marketing (Brand Manager) to produce best-in-class sales store, market events, and increased brand awareness;
  • Develop retail priorities which provide clear direction for sales field teams to drive action at retail;
  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to distributor partners;
  • Provide post-promotional analysis to understand ROI and competitive activity.


What we are looking for in a candidate for this role:


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically PowerPoint and Excel essential;
  • At least 3 years of Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) experience in Sales, Account Management, Marketing, Category Management or related field preferred;
  • At least wo years’ experience making customer headquarter calls or equivalent work experience;
  • Ability to apply financial data to make decisions and influence outcomes;
  • Expert understanding of CPG industry sector and competitive landscape preferred;
  • A team-player with a winning attitude in the face of challenging business interactions;
  • A thought leader who leverages data and resources with account and peers;
  • Creative and solutions-oriented in managing accounts through innovative sales programs Entrepreneurial and a self-starter.
