£40,000 to £52,000 plus bonus and excellent benefits

BACKGROUND

 

Due to a development move for an existing associate, an exciting opportunity has opened up for a Maintenance Team Leader role in Slough factory. Reporting to the Site Technical Manager and a key part of the Site Technical Leadership Team, the role will help establish the newly created Maintenance Control technician team (line management of 7-10 technical associates), enabling the development of individuals as well as supporting the site Maintenance Strategy

 

The Job

 

The Maintenance Team Leader (MTL) has the responsibility and accountability for making technical decisions that impact all production lines across the factory. This role requires close coordination with Operational Team Leaders on site, to lead resources so that preventative and corrective plant maintenance is delivered with safety and food safety front of mind. As a member of the Site Technical Leadership team, the MTL will help shape the maintenance strategy and drive the capabilities & performance of all team members forward.

 

Key Outputs

 

  • Lead maintenance technicians & maintenance planners to create & implement planned preventative maintenance plans to maximise factory performance and output
  • Lead corrective maintenance to resolve high priority factory issues through the technician community
  • Responsible for making factory-wide decisions where necessary, guiding other Team Leaders and factory associates on resolving deviations to KPIs
  • Line management for a team of maintenance associates; planning work and managing crewing levels, conducting training, and ensuring that all attendance, performance and disciplinary matters are dealt with in accordance with company procedures
  • Line management and lead of the Factory IT role to ensure a sustainable IT maintenance plan & roadmap for the factory
  • Lead technical development of the Electrical-Controls community including clear paths of escalation where additional support is required
  • Building a high-performing team through developing associates individually and within the team. Driving the engagement of associates through coaching and impact planning. Developing associates through effective personal development plan management to ensure functional, team and personal development.
  • Provide clear communication to the team on initiatives within the factory, as well as the wider business
  • Lead factory-wide projects to drive priority initiatives
  • Collaborating with Site Technical Leadership Team peers to lead and partner in maintenance technical strategy, asset performance improvement and asset investment
  • Role model the factory operational processes, leading functional meetings and supporting operations in root cause analyses through effective coaching
  • Lead recruitment processes & support with apprentice development to continue to fill a high calibre talent pipeline into the Technical team

 

QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES

 

Education and Qualification:

  • Engineering Bachelor degree or HNC technical qualification (preferred but not essential)

Experience:

  • Experience of line management in a manufacturing environment (preferred but not essential)
  • Solid understanding of & exposure to Engineering Technology

 

Specific Skills:

  • A strong communicator with a demonstrated ability to relate to all people at all levels, from a variety of backgrounds and to confront difficult and challenging situations as required.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Ability to lead and coordinate employees & third parties (flexible styles)
  • Sound interpersonal skills and knowledge and experience of building effective teams
  • The role requires conflict management, decision quality, drive for results, composure, developing direct reports and problem solving.
